English is the language that gives more opportunities for education, jobs, businesses, travels, and much more. Learning this language is basic if you want to boost your life in all senses. Don’t be stalled! We are feeling generous today and want to give you these top tips to help you fulfill your 2017 year resolution: speaking English with confidence. There are many fun and dynamic ways for you to practice the language. Take some minutes to read the tips, apply them in your life, have a great time while you do it, and start walking on the path to success.

1. Speak as often as possible

Never stay quiet because you are afraid of making mistakes. Get it out of your head that if you speak English and make some errors, then you are not learning. Often those who are willing to speak learn the quickest. So this year find people you can practice with, be it English speakers or others learning to speak English. Talk about things that you have learned and exchange ideas. You can also practice your skills here at Liquid Language with the help of our certified Native teachers. It all will help you to expand your vocabulary and be more confident in your pronunciation.

2. Record yourself

Nowadays almost everybody has a smartphone that can be a very useful tool for you to record yourself speaking English and listening back to it to hear how your pronunciation sounds. Checking your pronunciation will help you to learn what words you are pronouncing correctly and what others you need to work on more. You can find audio articles about a topic of your interest, listen to the professional recording, then you can record yourself trying to imitate his/her pronunciation and finally compare yourself with the professional recording. You can do it over and over again until you get it right.

At Liquid Language we offer you the opportunity to get English Lessons through IM platforms such as WhatsApp and Telegram. You will get to practice different skills and get feedback from a native English teacher as well as motivation to pronounce the words in the correct way. All your audios, lessons, and corrections are saved on your phone, and you just need to tap to get access.

3. Listen

If you are unsure about the pronunciation of a word, look it up in a virtual dictionary and listen to its correct pronunciation.  You can also practice listening to bulletin news in English and writing down what you understand as well as paying attention to learn the pronunciation and which words in a sentence are stressed. If you are not the kind of person who enjoys the news, you can listen to music in English to improve the pronunciation and intonation of the words. You can find some websites that help you improve your listening comprehension and practice different accents with the best music videos, filling in the lyrics of the songs and with Karaoke. Remember that the most you listen, the more you learn!

4. Learn a new word every day

When you learn a new word, you are expanding your vocabulary. The importance is not to memorize the word, but to know how to use it in a sentence. Practice the word in different sentences and try to include it in your daily conversations.

5. Read out loud

A fun and great way to practice pronunciation without worrying about sentence structure or grammar is finding a book, magazine or article of your interest and reading it out loud. In this way, you only need to concentrate on making sure that you are articulating the words in the right way.

6. Watch movies

Watching movies or TV series in English are ways to learn English passively. Preferably take the subtitles off,  and pay close attention to how the actors and actresses express their emotions, the intonation and pronunciation of the words, and the slang.

7. Slow down

If you want to be understood, you need to slow down your speaking speed and take the time you need to think. Don’t worry about people getting impatient and please try to be patient with yourself. People often prefer a well-thought-out answer to a rushed one. It is always better to speak slowly and be understood than to speak quickly and have nobody understand you.
